An essential read on the power of the mind

First published in 1912, this is an essential read for those who are seeking to know and understand the creative operation of mind- the why and how of creation. The 'why' of the Law of Attraction, Law of Mind, Law of Creation, Law of Being, Law of Love - they are all the same thing just different names. I recommend all of Christian Larson's books, they have great depth in knowledge and understanding.
This book explains very clearly and concisely how it is that the mind, through our thought and feeling, creates the circumstances of our lives. It explains how the "conscious and subconscious, objective and subjective, external and internal..mind of man" interacts, and what the role of these two spheres of mind are.
You can read these things in other books (eg those of Joseph Murphy, Ernest Holmes, U.S. Anderson to name a few), but this is the best I have read on this topic.
It is also a practical book, explaining how to create conciously what you want - how to think and how not to think.
Not a superficial read, highly recommended to anyone who is understanding the power of the mind, always with us, for us.

The Great Within takes practice!

This book dates back to 1907 which makes it 102 years old! I am really amazed at the insight the author had on the psychological aspect dealing with one's conscious mind versus subconscious mind. He explains quite clearly the importance of bringing the desire to the conscious mind first with clarity and a positive faith as opposed to allowing anything negative to creep in. Actually it's not unlike the host of other books dealing with the Law of Attraction and manifesting that which we desire. However the author explains that while we may have a strong desire, it is futile to believe the subconscious mind can express it enough to the point of physically materializing it, IF that which we desire is beyond our present capabilities. In other words if it's a powerful desire that requires our ability to perform something beyond our expertise, then without some action on our part to train in that area would be a waste of our time. This made me think of the saying, 'wishful thinking'!
While reading this, my mind went back to other books on the subject dealing with 'congruency' which I'm sure the author was trying to get across. So of course unless you are congruent with what you are desiring, then it will be very difficult, if not impossible to express it outwardly.
Having said all that, I'm still reading the book and am about half way through but still wanted to write this review now because after skimming the pages I can see that it's rather repetitive and very similar to other books on the subject.
However my main purpose for buying the book was the fact that I was lucky enough to find this particular edition published in 1907! I can't help wondering what people had to say back then about this new type of thinking concerning the subconscious mind and the part it plays in manifesting our desires. I also find it interesting reading a small book with the unique prose used back in those days as I find it quite refreshing.
For anyone new to the concept of the subconscious mind and law of attraction, I would recommend this little book of only 102 pages because it's very easy reading and certainly not overwhelming in its delivery.

It will make you walk tall

I got through this book in record time. It reiterated a number of truths I already know, but like most of us, almost forgotten. If you want to know what stuff you are made of, read The Great Within. You will walk tall at least for a few days afterwards.
