Debra Wesselmann, MS, LIMHP, has specialized in treating trauma and attachment problems in adults, children, and families for the past twenty-three years. She is an EMDr Institute facilitator and EMDrIA- approved consultant, as well as co-founder of the Attachment and Trauma Center of Nebraska in Omaha, Nebraska.
Cathy Schweitzer, MS, LMHP, specializes in treating trauma resolution and attachment problems in children and adolescents. She has fourteen years experience in both public and private school education, ten as a counselor for the Omaha public school system. She is level II trained and certified in EMDR, and is a co-founder of The Attachment and Trauma Center of Nebraska.
Stefanie Armstrong, MS, LIMHP, is a co-founder of and member of the treatment team at The Attachment and Trauma Center of Nebraska. She has more than ten years experience as a teacher and counselor in the Omaha public school system, is level II trained and certified in EMDR, and has presented her expertise in treating and parenting traumatized children across Nebraska and nationally.

Wesselmann, Schweitzer and Armstrong have delivered a gem of a book to the mental health profession. This very important work is an invaluable tool for understanding and treating the effects of trauma on a infant's/child's brain when attachment needs are not met or abuse has occurred. The treatment is born from extensive research and decade's long commitment to helping children and families heal the trauma and rebuild trust and love with one another. Treatment methods are clearly explained while providing a myriad of examples to clearly guide you in the treatment whether you are in the role of the family or the EMDR therapist. This book is very thorough in its presentation of he complex nature of this work, leaving no stone unturned when it comes to all the ramifications involved in the effects of trauma on the family system. You will more clearly be able to explain to families the link between the child's behaviors and the traumatic experiences stored in the brain. My enthusiasm for this treatment method comes from utilizing this protocol with scores of families while in practice over the past five years. I wish every therapist would read this book. I'm so glad that the authors/therapists at the Attachment and Trauma Center are sharing their knowledge--which is based on much experience and ongoing research. As the stepmother of a child with attachment trauma, I suffered the pain of well meaning therapists who charged lots of money for interventions that weren't trauma informed. They wasted our time and caused more problems than they solved. As a therapist, I know that this material is top notch. The theoretical wisdom and practical tools in this book make it well worth the money to buy and time to read.
